My Favorite Murder, a macabre yet hilarious podcast, is one of the highlights of my morning jog. The hosts, Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark each tell a grisly murder story in their weekly 1-2 hour long episodes, and in their “minisodes” read and discuss tales of murder, violence, and creeps emailed to them from a selection of their 150,000 plus fans.
Kilgariff and Hardstark are regular, lovely people and are feminists in the way that I think I am a feminist. This podcast invites you in and gets you hooked on the infectious banter between the two honest and lively hosts. They are not afraid to get off topic, mispronounce names, share personal stories and curse. They certainly don’t hold back any of the gruesome details of these murders and tackle serious issues of race and gender struggles, rape, and mental health with sincere empathy.
If they can laugh and make fun of some of the most horrible incidents, then I think we can really get through anything with a little laughter.
My Favorite Murder is available on Feral Audio, Apple Podcasts, or wherever else you get your podcasts.
